ok, just tried it at 8x instead of MAX and it still did it...

its a lightOn...

in all honesty it would cost nearly as much to ship it back as it would to buy another... its an el-cheapo.

well thats what i get i guess. i might just buy a new (better) on and hang onto this one for simple stuff. seams to work still for most ordinary things.

LOL i sent a 20x lite-on back to newegg last month. It was a cheapie too, Under $25.

any good recommendations on a quality and affordable drive to replace this with?

also, i'm wondering if this DVD43 may be causing problems because i used to be able to burn with this when it was setup as an external DVD drive for my laptop. any ideas on what i might use for encryption blocking?
