Default DVD burner questions

Anyone know about DVD burners? My CD-R drive crapped out, and I figured I might as well replace it with a DVD-R since that'* the new wave and it'll still burn CD'*. They don't seem to be THAT expensive, but I'm skeptical that I might be overlooking something on the low price models (since I don't know much about 'em). I don't care about the fanciest, fastest model... just something that works! Any opinions on the models listed below (or other recommendations) are much apprecaited!

NEC ND1100A ... I can buy this thru Pricewatch for $48, about the same on ebay
HP DVD300i ... same price range
Also lots of models from Lite-On and Nu in the $50 and below range on Pricewatch... :?:

I highly reccommend Pioneer, Sony, Lite-On or Asus burners. I have a Pioneer that you can probably get now for 100 bucks. It burns at 8x and I have never had a single unsuccessful burn. Look on www.newegg.com for one. The reason to go with NewEgg is because of the warrantys and ease of returns. If something goes wrong, they will help you out. Pricewatch may save you money, but you want to get a quality product.

Just make sure you buy the right media too. Ritek DVD-R discs are top notch, and they are very cheap.

Actually..... I'd go BenQ.
For the price the new 16x BenQ DVD burner can't be beat.

I've used Sony, Pioneer, Asus, LG .... the LG wasn't bad and the Pioneer and Sony are nice, but pricey. The BenQ is under $100 Cdn.
