Garb, you need to add a PCI video card. Even a cheapie will do fine. Run your primary off the AGP, and the second off the PCI.

once again i get showed up by god himself.

But I cheated. HP bought all mine.

I rarely do this at home, just every once in awhile if I dock my laptop near my desktop,
I'll use the laptop as one, and the monitor as the other.

At work, when doing 3D design, I really need two monitors. My viewport is one whole
screen, and all my menus on the other.

With the monster tool at work, one screen will be the user interface, another is stage
control, another laser control (for up to 10 lasers), and the last is Vision. They're going to
be on a custom bracket that holds them 3 across the bottom, and one centered at top.
All 20". We're using a 4-head PCI video card to drive them all, but the card actually only
has 2 ports.....each port comes with a Y adapter to split out to 4 independent monitors.

I got dual monitors here at work. It comes in handy, but can also be a PITA. Especially when a program decides that the gap between monitors is the middle of the screen. Or when WIndows decides to move everything over to Display 2

Alot depends on your drivers. I run a workstation and a laptop at work, both with different
manufactured cards (Nvidia and FireGL), but both drivers allow me to specify which apps
open on which monitor. If your driver DOESN'T, go to the manufacturers website and
download the update. It'* usually free, and rarely ships with the PC or card.

A: I can't download and install SQUAT!! I'm not considered a Guru at work like you are. (Doesn't mean I won't try, tho)

B: The application that likes to bounce stuff all over is stupid to start with. Custom written for the company, and the techs obviously never anticipated the need for dual monitors.

The Windows thing is wierd, but easy enough to fix with the NVIDIA nView app that IT installed with the card.

Nview has an update that'* totally configurable, and I doubt the Guru'* would even see it
installed. It just appears as an updated driver to them.
