I like Rap and Rock as well, but I'll always identify more with rap. Not all rap is blinging or violence. Some is about uplifting yourself or coming togethere and respecting yourself and others.

Good question... Like so many things, it depends on the mood and the trip I'm taking.

Weekday mornings, its Avril, cause my kids like her.
Weekday mornings after the carpet commando'* have been deployed, its usually something to get me geared up for the day ahead. Could be any of these:
Aerosmyth, Cream, Van Halen, Stevie Ray, Johnny Lang, ZZ, Led Zep, Floyd, Nugent, Rush (vintage, like La Villa Strangato), Jeff Beck, Clapton, Beatles, Goo Goo Dolls, Moby, Seal, Boston, Steve Miller, Dire Straits, ... So many more

In the evening, something slow, or maybe news radio.

I have to admit, I don't like rap, but that'* my taste. Too much of what I hear is all angry and hateful. Plus, I hate the way so many rappers rip off riffs from other songs.

Like I said no offense out there to you rap likers, but most of the stuff out their is about sex. Plus I guess you listen too what your raised around. Like my dad and my brothers they all listen to Rock, the old rock band (Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath ect.), I was raised around that type of music. But I'm a little differnt from my family cause I like Heavy Metal and they don't. I have friends that listen to rap, but hey if they like then who cares, right. But I will problaly never own a rap cd in my life, and people who like rap probaly won't buy rock or heavy metal cd'*.

Not trying to be funny, but I'll think of what you said when I pop in the ZZ Top, or the No Dought, or Red Hot Chillie Peppers, or the AC/DC..... and if you don't think they talk about sex, drugs and violence then you aren't listening to the lyricis. Not trying to flame you or anyone that likes any other music(unless it'* David Allan Cole...saw his show several times and couldn't get into him.) But you get what I mean I hope. As for the things that are in commercial rap. I've fired off my share of e-mails and letters to the so-called artist and record companies about changing some of the content that leads to sterioe types due to music. Metal and rock have thier share of praise for sex drugs and suicide, but not all of it is about that. Not everyone is Marylyn Manson don't you know. My 2 cents is that the more types of music we expose ourselves too; the more we can open our minds, but we must be aware of what is being pumped into our brains and that of our children. Can't speak for others, but I was raised with Hendrix, Hart, and Stevie Wonder alternatly playing in the morning before school.

Great Thread.

I have problems narrowing it down to one genre... let alone one group or song.

I will listen to ANYTHING that can be played loud.... i LOVE metal..... was born and raised near detroit so I also love pumpin the rap through my dual 12" subs. But its not uncommon to hear some zepplin or anything else classic flyin out my open windows. Oh and i love techno @ night... I used to pump the techno a lot more through my subs when i was driving my 1991 Ford Aerostar.... man that van was awesome... i'd pull up to some punk drivin daddy'* mercades and blow him away with my subs

the only thing i wont listen to is country... if you ever hear country music coming from my car... it means i have died... and my car has been passed on.... so say a memorial for me

I'll listen to anything.

Mostly country, and oddly as this may seem because of the huge difference, and rap.

Best driving song is Sabbra Cadabra by Metallica. They have lots of great road songs.
