i called my lawyer and he said all i have to do is send the wisconsin d..o.t a affidavit saying the car was sold before the accident happened. he said to send them a copy of the bill of sale. so i am playing the waiting game right now.... :?

You need to find out from the cops if J and L tried to implicate you deliberately. If they did, there are charges you may be able to file. I'd pursue it.

BTW, suspension failures are actually a problem area on eighties F-bodies. I had a personal experience with that at the auction. Fortunately, I was only going about 15mph when the lower control arm broke loose, and it hit a fence rather than the long line of cars on the other side of the aisle.

My parked Bonneville was hit by an unlicensed, uninsured drunk driver. 6 months later, i get a letter saying my license will be suspended unless i can prove i had valid insurance at the time. even though i clearly had the car fixed and the insurance company paid for it(minus my deductible). they said i was supposed to fill out and send in a form that i never received. pffft... i dont see how you can be held accountable for this, you should be fine.

Did J pay you for the car? Did he pay by check or did you give him a receipt for cash? A copy of his proof of payment would be handy to prove the sale.
