I'm in college, so I don't think I would be eligible for draft. However if the draft were reinstated I would quit school and enlist before they even needed to draw my name out of the hat. I believe in what we're doing in Iraq, but even more than that I would feel it unfair that fellow Americans were being forced to fight when I'm an able-bodied young man who would gladly take part in the liberation of a people. I know, I know, many of you disagree with the reason'* for our being in Iraq. I'm just telling you what I would do in the event of a draft.

His legacy. He'll be judged for eternity by the world on what he does in his second term. Every lame-duck president knows this.

I would be willing to bet the poeple most against the Draft are the money counters and the military.

The money counters don't want to have to pay for a bunch of new troops. And the troops that are in probably don't wanna serve with draftees, or have them serve under them.

I know when I was in and headed to Kuwait, the last thing I wanted was to trust my back to someone who didn't want to be there.

Along with the reputation of the US Military. It suffers during a draft, and is seen as the ultimate evil.

There won't be another draft! Pretty much take a 3 theatre world war for us to need that level of troops.

To the original poster, the "Draft" scare/myth was started by a couple of Dem Senators C Rangle <sp?> and another one. They didn't even vote for it when it came up.

Your professor needs to stop trying to scare you with his ideology and start teaching you what you're paying him for.

mnrob32 forwarded this to me, and for some reason I felt like posting. It kinda fits the thread:

My existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way.
Wish I knew who the author was....

I am out of touch with the current laws concerning Selective Service registration. Do you get a deferment when you register? In my generation you would usually be classified 2A, 4A, 2S and such.
