Dodge Dakota Q'*
Hey, I just bought a 95 Dakota Sport standard cab short bed. (its replacing my Park Ave- NOT the bonny ) It has the 2.5L 4 banger, and 5 Speed (not sure why they call it "sport"...) but thats ok, i'm all about mpg, not speed.
However, what are some simple mods to make it run in top shape? I believe this is the same engine in Neons and any other Chryslers with the 4 cylinder. its a tiny engine for my engine compartment- i can literally climb in and stand on the ground- inside the engine compartment- to work on it. Does anybody have experience with this engine?
'd like to put a Tach in it- any suggestions? I've been told to get a diesel tach- cause it will only go up to like 6k. I just want to know where i'm at- again, not a speed issue. Any trick to hooking a tach up?
Thanks for any and all suggestions
jeff

Ha!
I've got a 93 Dakota with the 3.9L v6, and THAT thing'* a dog.
Here'* your choices:
1) Strip off bed, fenders, hood, doors, and all other non-essential metal to shave weight
2) Swap in the 5.2L v8

Hey, I'm driving an '88 pre-Magnum V6 so quit your complaining!
Anyways, back to the original question, they did have tachometers in some of the stock units. I'm NOT sure if it'* a direct swap item though.
You might have better luck here:
