Default Hello From South Dakota

Hello everyone. I just joined up here. I found your site by looking for info on the lame plenums that GM stuck on our cars. I just bought my first Bonneville (first Pontiac for that matter) 2 weeks ago. It'* a 2001 SE with 47k miles. It'* all black with dark tinted windows. I get compliments all the time on how nice it looks - maybe will check out cardomain.com so I can post some pics. Anyways, just wanted to say hello, and thanks for all the info I was able to find on the message boards.

I already had the 'Death-Cool' flushed out and replaced with green coolant (Prestone). This was my first successful 'mod'. I had them check out the plenum and found the very first signs that it might be seeping. :? I will be watching the coolant level like a hawk till I get the intake replaced.

I have some questions about things in the car, but will post those in the appropriate places. I have enjoyed reading your posts on mods, etc.. and am getting some ideas of my own. Again, thanks for all the info you guys gave me already, and Hello!

Welcome to the Club, Ten . I've heard rumors that GM improved the design of the upper intake on the newer L36 engines (2000-2003). But keep a close eye on the recovery tank anyway.

Yeah, it can't hurt to check it once in a while. Welcome to the club Ten, goodluck with the the new car. I know that the new Olds still have the problem but dunno about the new Pontiacs. They're both GMs so I dunno if they fixed it

its a common Series II 3800, and the L36 is not found in any "newer" Olds, the last one to have it was the LS.

There is a good sticky in 92-99 that talks about the intake problems

Welcome. Not too far from you (unless your on the far side -aka... Rapid City, or THAT side of the state LOL).
Anywhere near Woonsocket? That'* my dad'* hometown and we go there once or twice every fall for pheasant hunting.

I'm actually living in Sioux Falls. I'm sure you know where that is, can't miss us. lol. So, I'm not from 'THAT' side of the state. I am still about 100 miles or so east of Woonsocket though - in case you didn't know.

Nice to meet you all.
