Don't know how much is too much for you... me and Sol are the Canon fanboys..
That'* the cheapest Canon I can find on the website, if you can find an A510 or A520, that'd suit you better and be cheaper, I think.

It is a Nikon Coolpix 7900..the price all depends on where you get it. I got mine for $379.99 but here is one for $299 http://www.hotbuysdigital.com/item_d...item_id=104615
here is a pic of it...

It really is a great camera...it is 7.1 MP, definitely a good buy...it sure ain't no Vivitar..haha, sorry...

LOL to vivitar and I learned my lesson, I figured under three so the one fits nicely. Is 5mp a good step up from 3mp, and is mp a true comparison of photo quality. The 3mp didnt seem to have any better quality photos than my old original poloroid digital@1mp. Have to have before Monday and wally'* is only place close to me without bending over at a camera store
In my personal opinion, a 3-5 MP upgrade is DEFINITELY worth it, but a 5-7 MP like mine...well there really is not much difference...I would say go with that Canon, looks sweet, but make sure it has a rechargable battery pack, otherwise you will be spending half your money on batteries...otherwise i guess you can get rechargable AAs...maybe...but i don't think they are as good...but still Canon rules..

Yeah I like that one John, and says my 1gig sd card will fit it. I have alot of "toys" that require "AA"'* so I have a RS nickelhydride charger and batteries. Even my spudgun uses them
but a one for cam would be a plus

Big fan of the Sony'*. Excellent CCD quality, GREAT optics. All three Admins are Sony boys.
Don and I have the DSC-W5, and I think Jim is looking at it to replace his older Sony. Kim has my old Sony DSC-S50 now. That camera is 8 years old and still takes better pics than many modern cameras.

Canon SD series are great. Tiny and portable, with a rechargable battery. They are fairly cheap too. Canon has some of the best glass on the market, and even their consumer grade lenses are pretty decent.
Although an SLR would kill everything, but those are expensive.
