You know, they do make surge protectors that also protect your phone lines as well. That might be a worth while investment while you're getting that new modem. My parents had that happen to them when i still lived at home. Once i put the phone line though the surge protector we never had any more trouble.

my downloads run a solid 3-4 kbps :lol:

We haven't had dial up at my house in 5 years. Just 6mb/1mb dsl and loving it
