Default Decisions, Decisions...need advice as always

Well......

If the current member interested in buying my car ends up buying my car for $3,000....I'm thinking about getting a loan for $4,000 and asking my dad to cosign on it. Thing is, I don't know if I want to go into debt. I can easily handle the payments (which should be in the 200-300 range).

Opinions? If I did this I would have about $8,000 to get something very nice, not totally sure if it'll be an ssei but it'll be very nice. I'm just not sure if I want to go into debt. I know you have to start your credit somewhere, though....

If you were in my shoes, would you take out a loan?

This is what I'm having trouble deciding. I know 8k will get me a very nice ssei

I don't know what "your shoes" are, but a 4,000 loan would be a low monthly payment unless you want to pay it off sooner rather than later. It depends on the bank and how long they can stretch it out for (plus interest and other things). It may not be a good idea to stretch it out too long anyway. e.g. I got a 66 month loan for 12K and my payments are only $228 a mo. If you could afford it and your dad would cosign I'd figure out what your payments would be and go from there.

It'* summer, go buy an $8000 convertible, trust me you'll love it. When I was 18 I got my dad to co-sign on a $12k loan, and now I am 23 and own my own home, your credit has to start somewhere. :P

I'm contemplating between 3 cars.

SSEi, GTP or a 90-93 Mustang 5.0 5 speed.

$8,000 will buy me really nice of each.

If anything get an F-body, don't get a GTP, it'* just an uncomfortable SSEi. Get an SSEi, but don't sell it 2 weeks later, they are nice cars.

I love my H bodies, but I have an F body, and if you get one get a manual, because they a SO FUN to drive

You have to start somewhere. I started when I was 17 or 18, with loans, just to build my credit.

4,000 doesn't sound bad as the first loan. Yes you have to start somewhere, you will be glad you did in the future.

well when I get the money I'll figure something out. I'm going to talk to my dad about cosigning tomorrow - I hope he is willing to. I think I'll probably go with something L67 powered. I'll use SO much gas with a V8 as a daily driver.

I actually LOVE the 84-92 camaros, not sure what body they are though. Friend of mine has a 92 Z28 with a 350 swapped in w/ a cam, heads, headers...all the goods. 5 speed and 22,000 original miles. That thing is faaaast.

Vig...sorry to sound like a downer...

Think about the rest of the year where you live. Get Snow? RWD with excessive power isn't a winter car.

Heck..if it were me..I'd drive the near perfect car you already have w/o any payments and save my money up.
