If you can afford the payments on a $4000 loan, I would say go for it. If you keep driving the car you have now, by the time you save $4000, the miles on your bonne would be higher and the value of it would go down because of it.
Go for the loan, get into a newer car and build up your credit. I definately see many positives of getting the loan. Just make sure its going to be worth it to you.
The only thought that would cross my mind would be how mechanically sound the new car your going to buy really is.

Well I've been shopping around today. My payments would only be about $130 a month on a 4k loan. I can easily handle that.
Boost - I think I'm going to search around for an immaculate SSEi. I've decided against RWD...I'd be filling my tank up every other day with a camaro or mustang.

Well I talked to my dad and he said its moronic for me to get a loan as a full time college student. Blah. I guess I'll follow his advice and just keep trying to sell my SLE.
