Automotive News is reporting a story this morning with an amazing level of detail that if true, would be the biggest news to rock the automotive world since the invention of the truck-car. They are reporting the possibility GM may cast Carlos Ghosn and talks of an alliance with Renault-Nissan to the winds in favor of keeping things in the Detroit family -- and pursuing a merger or alliance with the boys and girls in Dearborn. That'* right, they're claiming a GM and Ford tie-up'* a possibility with talks occuring between GM CFO Fritz Henderson and FoMoCo CFO Don Leclair. Although there'* no clear indication how those talks went, and both GM and Ford spokespersons aren't talking, what'* clear is the mere possibility of it will send the pundit and press classes all atwitter quicker than a free buffet at a press conference.
