Default dealers are CRAZY!(Trying to rip me off)

I was so close to buying a new car today. I was driving through town and saw something that caught me eye.. a 2001 Black Buick Regal. I pulled in the lot and had a look at it. it was a GS with 38,000 miles and they wanted $13,200 for it! It took it for a test drive and basically fell in love with it. i went inside to discuss payment options/trade-in, etc.. He took my car for a test drive and when he came back he said that my car was extremely nice... one of the nicest Riviera'* he'* seen! He said he was going to figure up how much it was worth and left for a minute. He came back, and told me he would give me GET THIS... $1,000! He then said I'd have to come up with the $1,600 to pay off my loan, then after everything was added up that regal was now $15,500/300 per month. I told him that there was no way I was going to take $1,000 for my car. It'* way too nice to give it up for that. Just for kicks I looked up on kelly blue book how much it'* worth on a dealer trade-in, and it'* $3,600! Dealers **** me off.. I do think I found what my next car'* going to be though.. a Regal GS.
Here'* the car I test drove today (and almost bought..):

SO off to the Acura dealership.....$17,000 for a $50,000 sticker in 2001 with 48,000 miles

Agreed... I will not call those "businesses" by any other name. The sad thing is, they can get away with such ludicrious rip-offs because so many consumers fall for it! :? It is up to all of US to educate the world!

I figured I would also say that while I was there I test drove a 2002 Aurora... and... damn that car was nice! Talk about luxury. sheesh. I loved that car, but, I'm looking to get something smaller with better gas mileage. It had the 3.5 V6 but it still could move quite nicely. I just felt like I had to rev the hell out of it even during normal driving. (3,500 RPM shift points when I'm used to around 2,200 on the Riviera.) Gas mileage wasn't good either. It only got 24 MPG average whereas the Regal was getting 32 MPG average on the same exact driving style.

So what'* wrong with the Riv? Frankly that car is more desirable then these ones you're looking at.

Why spend money just because you can?
