So, what does this mean? Basically that the Liberal party will remain much too divided and distracted for too long to properly opppose the Tories. So, as such, we will see a Conservative minority for some time. What will happen in 2 years or so, when the Liberals are united under a strong leader? Only time can tell really, although I would certainly hope to see them form the government again (only since the NDP won't be forming a government anytime soon).

Watch your step there.....Everyone is entitled to their opinions and zepployd had every right to say that they hated politics, as you said this thread is about politics! Whether you agree or not you have no right to tell someone to get lost.....As for the election, I am sorry to see Paul Martin go, he is a good man, however, I could not vote for his party. I am happy that the conservative from our riding got in, we may actually have a voice now! I will however say that Stephen Harper does worry me a bit, but at least it is minority government and he has to watch his step.
personaly i liked the way it was with the Liberals in a minority postion. the only this wrong with the liberals is they got too much power and got out of line, I dont think anything happend when the were a minority (maybe there was, I dont follow it too close) all i can say is hopfully Harper wont go against are Canadian values
The White House called to congratulate Mr Harper on his victory and looks forward to co-operation with our newly elected Conservative goverment.
This should be interesting...lol
Did you see the riding maps? Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver and Montreal...ALL ridings went Liberal, as rural Canada voted a Conservative minority. Exactly the same as the United States, proving we are just as divided between urban and rural citizens. However due to the fact that Canadian urban centres continue to grow, this ensures the Grits will rebound quickly.
This will be a good time out for our Liberal party to refocus, clean house. Lets give Harper the benefit of the doubt. Canadians by nature are more Liberal fundamentally and will not accept neo conservative actions from Harper.
Plus our economic engines (cities) better get properly addressed by this rural-voted government.

Wow, sounds like Canada is in for a surprise. Well, I have to say that IMO, USA is worse. Our candiatates backstab each others. One Democrat vehemently denied everything. One Republican had no clue what he was talking about.
Our President spys on us. They keep secrets from us.
Ahh, ain't politics wonderful

However, if he posted "I personally do not care for SEs, I prefer SSEis" that would be fine although he might catch some flak for not posting something relevant. Or "I'm not a big fan of your rims, but it'* your car" would be fine too, with a similar caveat as above. Similarly, if he had said "I don't follow or enjoy politics, but good for Canada" or something along those lines, then it would be perfectly acceptable, although not overly relevant. Furthermore, this thread isn't "Post your opinion on politics" it was specifically oriented towards comments on the election in Canada. It'* all about the delivery and the context, isn't it?
Now, back to CANADIAN politics.
I hope that Harper doesn't become Bush'* best buddy, but I rest assured that the minority in the House should keep that in check for the most part. He really can't afford to do introduce anything radical this early on.
As far as any "neo-Conservative" agenda, I think Canada is safe and really conservative westerners (I, of course, am not included in that group despite my geographical location) may be very disappointed with him in the months to come. He will not attempt to challenge same-sex marriage or criminalise abortion for a very long time, if at all.

Ohh, Ryan'* good. I do have to agree with him. He does make a valid point.
The other guy could have put it more delicately like Ryan pointed out several times.
Ryan has supported his reasons why he reacted in such ways, you really should run for a elected office.
