there'* also a place up near me that sells retired police cars ubt I don't think you want to travel up to Maine.

they are Impalas and those are just dumb.
They have a Series 2 and 3.33 gearing. They are quicker than that dog of a Crown Vic.

Yes, and I can vouch for that. The 0-60 in a Impala Police interceptor is about 7.6-7.7, while the Crown vic is 8.7-8.8.

Keep in mind that police cruisers have the crap beat out of them on a daily basis...and not just during pursuits...just how they are normally driven. The engine "miles" will be higher than the odometer, as they spend a lot of time idling. The best bet is that if you can get some "inside" information, the ones driven by the command staff are generally less abused.

My first thought was "Why would anyone want some abused, high mileage, low optioned, probably a solid plastic back seat, hub-capped, beat to near death cop car?"

Exactly! Unless of course its a LT1 powered 9C1 Caprice, then thats different.
