And its my own damn fault. You see when I see a movie thats based on a true story I research it. Well I did research on the Amityville horror, which is based from the DeFeo Murders in Amityville NY, in the Defeo home on 112 ocean ave. I think the crime scene photos did me in
. I have to stop researching true horror movies!!!

Wow..you made me curious so I just went and read some articles about the house and DeFeo murders (luckily I didn't come across the crime scene pics you mentioned). I avoided the movie for years...and when I finally saw it I thought it was lame, so I didn't pay much attention to what the "true story" was...but it'* really interesting...especially to me because I was born in January 1974 and my poor, unsuspecting parents named me Amity (it actually means friendship). I get joked with about it so much that when I'm introduced to someone who clearly doesn't understand wtf my name is the first time around I just say "It'* Amity...you know...as in "Ville Horror"...

...what was the real story?...
...what was the real story?...Pictures (dont worry, no cruesome ones)
Heres the house at the murder schene, notice the house is exactly like the one in the movie, except the one in the movie is white. This actual defeo house was not used in the movies, once from new jersey was.

Heres the real Lutz'*

Heres a picture of the house as it is today. The owners replaced the famouse pie shaped windows and changed the address from 112 ocean ave to I think 108 to disguise the house from tourist.

heres the cover of the movie, the house used in the movie looks slightly different, mostly the location of the chimney on the exterior of the house

Heres some pictures from the warrens investigation of the house
The Lutz owned the house still when the investigation took place
first is a picture of the DeFeos Study, still had some of the DeFeos furnature

Heres Mrs. Warren sitting on the stairs after having supernatural experience up stairs

Heres another one of the real amityville house

Thats all I have without making everyone lose there lunch. One final note, the warrens claimed that the Lutz children when they lived in the house, were sleeping on the beds that the defeo children were murdered in.

Also I really like that house, if I had money I build the exact same one, not cause I am morbid or anything, I just really like the design, expecially those pie shaped windows
