People slow down when I get behind them. I'll leave it at that

APRS? Oh yea. Use to use that too. Had a dedicated laptop in the car with GPS. Until my TNC died. Then I went over the road and I ended up taking everything out of the car during the winter. Finally got my 30ft tower up 2 months ago. Only has a 3 el 6 mtr beam and a 5 el 2 mtr beam on it. Need more coax to throw the Ringo II on it. Toasted my Icom 2100 last month. Have no idea what happened to it. So, only thing left is my Icom 706, Icom T2H, and my Rat Shack 252.

For those who are curious what I am talking about

Icom 706MKIIG

Icom 2100

Icom T2H

I would show a picture of the Radio Shack radio, but I am far too ashamed to show or mention it. I'm sure those that have had one or seen one will understand. :P

I operated one of those 706'* at field day this year on 20 meters. First time I had held a mike since about 1994. I had a blast. This particular Field Day was being held in a park, from a custom built Com trailer and portable everything. It was awesome. Gotta save my pennies and dimes, but operating HF from the car seems a little troublesome at highway speeds LOL. Has yours served you well?

My 706 has served me very well. Two years of field day, it'* gone on the road with me(big truck), I have never had a problem with this radio yet. (knock on wood) I would like to get the new Icom 7000...

Pretty much the same thing as the 706, but it'* got color TFT display, and I think it has video out so you can have the display on a 20" tv. Plus better filters. Filters make things better. Kinda like */C'*
