Default Corporate speak

why is it that managment has to make everything they say last longer than it has to?

They can have hours long meetings and seminars, form focus groups, waste comittees, that all boil down to one thing.

Do your job right.

anyone familair with Six Sigma knows from where I speak LOL

Because my experience has shown me that most of them are blowhards that like to hear themselves talk. It is also a ploy to get out of actually doing work. My boss goes to meetings all the time yet he doesn't do a darn thing and doesn't even know how to use his computer. He asks us crap like: "Where'* my Inbox?" or "What is my desktop?" I mean stupid stuff. We keep showing him yet he still hasn't a clue.

Don't get me wrong- I don't have a problem with management but I do believe that they should have working knowledge of the other jobs within the company and at least know how to do his own job.

Some places are actually really bad, I used to work in a wholesale materials supply house, electrical and appliance. This place was so shareholdered up, we spent a large part of the day filling out reports.

There were 2 jokes going around that place

Work schedule

8:00-9:00 - work

9:00-5:00 - fill out reports about work accomplished

the other one was

They round up all the misfits and underacheivers and put them where they can do the least damage, upper managment and the board of directors LOL.

They actually wanted us to time how long it took to load 100 feet of pipe, as opposed to 1000 feet of pipe, to calculate the man-hour cost of loading trucks. Then they made a big deal about employee fitness because "surely they can do it faster if they were fitter"

I swear sometimes the smarter people get the dumber they get. Those jokes were pretty good.

They talk you into a corner to confuse you. That way they get around answering direct questions.
