Default Cooks.. I need your help!

I have this strong urge to cook some steak in bacon grease. Like buy a big package of bacon, and cook all the bacon dry. Then, take all the bacon grease, put it in a pot, and put in a steak.. and boil it until cooked. And if extra grease is needed, add in some super fattening olive oil, or corn oil. And maybe buy some sort of beef fat.. to put in with the bacon grease too. Can I do this?

that would be very tasty...but why not just wrap the steak in bacon first, then cook, and then the juice from both meats will be combined...yum

I've never done this, or had the desire to do this but a couple things to remember-don't start a fire...so don't cook the grease too hot. Second, you are going to have to cook the steak beforehand, some anyways. Otherwise you are going to end up with a very done outside and a cold, raw inside (unless you go for that thing...).

How cooked beforehand? Like just enough that it'* safe to eat, then the rest of it being cooked in the bacon grease? Also what kind of temps should I be looking at? I have a gas stove/oven. Should I keep it just hot enough to keep boiling?

Harofreak: I have done that before, but not with bacon grease. We had some dry roast beef, and we put some marinade in, and wrapped in foil and BBQ'd.

Gumball: Wouldn't it be heart attack in a steak?

Technically the bacon grease will break down before it will boil and that would make for a foul tasting steak. You can use the bacon grease and do a chicken fried steak as long as the heat is on medium and not high. I agree with harofreak00 and go for the steak wrapped in bacon. You can hold the bacon to the steak with wood skewers. I would rather have the steak grilled when it is wrapped in bacon but you could use a broiler.
