Actually, my neighbor has this kind of service WITH a wireless hub so he can connect with his laptop anywhere in the house. His laptop works over at my house too, apparently within his wireless range. Perhaps a wireless card would be a worthwhile addition to my home computer after all.
yup, I have a wireless hub so I can browse the internet anywhere in my house, even outside if I want to. But nobody'* going to get in, I have 128bit encryption on my router.

I could get in. The only true secure way of preventing anyone from getting in, is to setup MAC address filtering. The only way you can mess with these settings, is by having admin rights to the router, which requires being connected in the first place. I have wifi, however I don't have any notebooks/portable wireless devices.. kinda an oxymoron I guess.

I have a 1500kb/* downline DSL.. Oh yeah, and I actually get 139xkb/* downline, on average. So it'* none of that cable hype of "3mb/*," because we all know those people don't get that speed. I have a couple friends with Comcast "3mb/*" cable, and their stuff is usually only 300kB/* [not kb/*]. I consider myself lucky .

sure, if you want to stand outside my house for a week straight while you scan my wireless network to get in. The only way to figure out the encryption is to "capture" certain packets which contain information you can use. A home network would take weeks to crack because of the very small amount of wireless traffic. Even using Linux(or for us windows guys, we can just pop in knoppix and run it.) and running a program called air snort, you're still going to take weeks to crack it. trust me, I've done it before.

(but good luck none the less. )

I've cracked WEP [not WPA], of my OWN network, in about 30 minutes while downloading, and 2 hours while just surfing the web, and some off times. Gaining access to another person'* network is illegal, therefor I would never do that [wardriving]. I asked myself permission before I started it, don't worry .
