Default Coil or Ignition Module

Hey all,

On my '90 Skylark, I have an intermittent starting problem. After I drive it on the freeway for about 30 minutes, then shut it off for 10 or 15 minutes, it won't start AT ALL unless I let it sit for another 20 or 30 minutes. Almost as if the coil has to cool down some. Does anybody have an idea if this can be connected to either the coil or the ignition module? The coil is $50.00 and the module is $ 270.00. Thanks.

Mike

it sounds like the chip in the coil pack needs to cool down
what you could do is take that chip out of the car and then take the chip to your local autozone and have them test is
i imagine you can do that with the coil and ignition module too!!

I think you are referring to the ignition module under the coils. Does this have the 3.8 in it or the 3.1? I ask, because instead of getting the same set-up you should think about the ingition swap if this is the issue. It did wonders for the 3.8 in my 89 bonnie. They are pretty cheap from the yard. There were also some members on here with them for sale.
