Wife surprised me and some of our friends with tix to the Eric Clapton concert last night. Robert Cray opened, and JJ Cale guested on a few songs from their new collaboration. The encore was all of them together.

Those old men can jam! The set was about 2-1/2 hours, mostly stuff from the Derek and the Dominoes days, but also some old Cream stuff and songs from the Journeyman album. He also played "Cocaine," which I thought he promised he would never play again, but my wife said Cale wrote that song, so I guess he did it in his honor.

He had a couple guest guitarists throughout the show...the one kid, Derek Trucks, plays slide guitar and tours with the Allman Brothers, and he was un-f**-in-believeable.

After the show we hit some sleazy dive bar by the waterfront for pitchers and drunken karaoke.

Not a bad way to spend a Thursday night!

I'm so old I remember Clapton playing with The Yardbirds.

that would be a killer show!!!! i didnt even know he still played anymore... im goin to see tool, type o negative, ozzfest and lynyrd skynyrd this summer!!! its gonna be a good time...

but if clapton makes his way to southern fla ill be there too!!!!
