Craftsmen tools are the simple answer here. I can not accept the answer, "I can't afford them" You can't afford not to have them. They are not at the premium side of the scale and I feel affordable for anyone, especially if you buy them in the bundles that are often on sale. I have never broken a Craftsman tool without using force they aren't intended to withstand. i.e., cheater bars and wrenchs on wrenchs. And nobody beats them for locations to trade any broken tool without question as to how you did it. Even ratchets that have stopped working or slipping because of abuse like leaving out in the rain, buried in snow, whatever.

I have probably 90% Craftsman tools and love them. I had a ratchet get all effed up after a 48" cheater bar ordeal and spindle nut on a seized wheel/bearing/brake assembly. Sears gave me a new ratchet, no questions asked.
