1987.....

Had a banana yellow on black 68 cougar with a built & bored 289 w/ bult trans ,upgraded flywheel, gears etc...the works and then some serious weight reduction ( and probably safety too ) but that was one fun ride, first day after I was done building it after 2 yrs in the garage I took it out and gave the pedal adn quick introduction to the floor and as the hood flew up and into the windshield and over the car I remembered about the hood pins...

so drove it all summer w/ no hood...

Lost it after the divorce.....thanks babe...love ya ....

Well, I never owned these cars, but my dad DID.

His first car was a 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente. He mentioned it had a special 289...a gold painted one...and went like, well, a comet. He got rearended in it, which makes him rearend the car in front of him. Totaled.

The car after that one was a '72 Mercury Cyclone GT that he bought new. 429 CJ I think, red w/black vinyl top. He rarely drove it, as mom usually won out on driver placement When she started getting tickets and being pulled over "for no apparant reason", she talked dad into getting rid of it...and got....the brand-new Mercury Grenada

To this day, dad never listens to mom. Even when she is right
