Default Car won't start... suggestions?

So my '69 Executive died in the driveway the other day, everything went dark while I had the ignition in the "on" position (engine not running). All my battery connections seemed tight, so I assumed it was the battery itself. Charged it overnight, no response the next day. And I mean NO power at all inside the car, no dome light, no dash lights, certainly no engine crank, no nothin'. My alarm siren (under the hood) would barely squeak a warning each time I moved the battery post around, so that tells me there was SOME power getting thru somewhere.

I took the battery to Advance Auto, they say it'* fine. I'm going to hook the battery back up later and re-check connections, and check my fuses as well... any other suggestions?

Hmmm maybe check the connections on the starter, A guy I knew had his car die on him and they all thought it was the battery. It ended up being the starter. Other than that, I am not sure.

Remove your battery ground connections, clean them with a wire brush and solvent, and re-attach them. If the battery is good, and you got no juice, this is your best bet.

You were DEAD ON. My positive lead runs from my battery to the starter, and the nut was loose enough on my starter to allow the cable to be wiggled around and come loose. It took me about 3 hours, but I finally located the problem after probing around with a voltmeter and figuring out how to drop the starter halfway down so I could reach & tighten the connection. Thanks!

Definitely! I didn't consider it "joy" when I was wrestling with the dang starter bolts for 2+ hours, but I did figure it out and it didn't cost me anything but time (compared to the $178 that my Aurora cost me that SAME DAY to diagnose a cylinder misfire and clean the fuel injectors :? ). And if my Executive'* starter acts up again in the future, I could probably do the same job in 15 minutes next time.
