6 years ago I was a Ford fanatic. I thought my 89' Grand Marquis was fast cause it had the almighty 5.0. Then when I drove a buddies Pontiac 6000 with the 3.1L and realized it could beat the Merc. I drove some other GM models and realized GM is the way to go.

well, i checked out the car. should have taken pictures, but i didnt. oh well. i got there, the thing was covered head to toe in an inch of pine sap. paint is peeling off the car in places, but there is no rust from what i saw. first started it up, car wasnt too eager to go, but $5 in premium and air in the tires woke it up. car needs struts in the front and tires soon. has a noteable pull to the right <supposedly from the struts> but was manageable once i got the hang of it. car ran strong, transmission was great, and the engine was very consistant. i didnt like the gearing though <4k @ 35mph in first> but i wont knock the car down for that. when i got done driving it though it sprung a coolant leak <near the thermostat housing> but i am hoping it is just rubber. oil looked great <especially for its age>. i will give the car a second look after i get back home from carlsbad. lady said she would go down to $350 if i was still interested <after it started spewing coolant>. anything i should look at on the second trip?

btw, 149k miles, 3 liter v6

Don't know about you, but I would consider LIFE INSURANCE. It pulls to the right, struggled to get going and the gearing sucks at 4000 RPM? Plus it'* spewing coolant.

Yup, life insurance would be a excellent idea.

Dude, buy a Bonnie!

Lol, j/k. I dunno. You could probably make 350 off of it for parts if it croaks, right?

If it has the 2.5L I4 in it... it'* a good engine. Only known for head gaskets, but if you didn't over-rev the engine, it was usually fine. My mom had a 88 Aries wagon, thing ran great, solid motor, overhead cam, easy to work on, never a problem with the 3 speed auto trans. I always liked the K cars, boxy, somewhat ugly, but easy to work on, parts were cheap, and pretty damn reliable.
