I dont get what your saying. Your whole 400Hp thing throws me off. When is the normal person that wants to take pictures of their friends or just random pictures to post on mysapce going to use 7mp? (not saying she is going to do that because I dont know but what it sounds like she doesnt want to be a professional photographer with a $300 camera just have some fun) Unless you want bigger file sizes and have the ABILITY to make 20X30in or bigger prints (who knows she may want to though) you dont need 7mp. You can get a great 8X10 at 3mp. I rather have a Better CCD then more MP'* for a $300 camera. Now granted if she plans on cropping in ALOT or making HUGH pictures get the 7 but 3-5MP would be fine for Wallets 4X6'* 5X7'* 8X10'* 11X14'* and maybe even 16X20. I myself shoot with expensive DSLR cameras and I rarely use all the MP of my camera. I will enlarge a picture to 20X30 maybe once a month. I did a 40X60 print recently and it looks AWESOME with a 10.2mp camera.

the wife got me a fuji finepix a900 for x-mas. seems to be a good camera so far. 9 mp.
under $200 including the 2gig memory card i bought. i dont know a lot about cameras , but i am very happy so far.

Price & Performance get the sd1000 or sd750 and a 2gb SD card for under $200 total.
