Why do old topics get locked? Simple. Our knowledge and experience change. What mechanical advice was dished out a year ago might not be valid today. We had alot of that going on for awhile, which is why we put that rule into place.

In addition, someone not really good at troubleshooting will see someone else'* old problem and just assume that their solution will be the same. This isn't always the case. We like to encourage a person to start a new topic with their OWN symptoms and observations for more valid troubleshooting.

Now go out there and find me a Forum with a more easygoing attitude (not including poetry forums) and we'll talk some more.

Now that i a gree with 100%.
Alot of people lose common desency when there looking at a screen, instead of person to person where you can get pimp slapped for a sideways comment. This is about the only forum i have'nt run into "internet Rambo'*".

Haha.

About bumping old threads. All that was said is true. But what REALLY annoys me about it, is it is a major waste of time. I start reading it, and say, hmmm....seems kinda like I read this before. After about 2 minutes of reading it starts to sound really familiar. Thats when it hits me to look at the date from 3 years ago. Its not bad in the one pagers, but the 4 or 5 page threads really make me mad when I keep thinking things sound familiar.
