Yes, as much power, but not as much torque. Horsepower is for selling cars, torque wins races! Plus, the potential of the L67 is much higher than the potential of the 3.6L VVT. The 3.6L VVT in the new STS is a great motor, don't get me wrong, but you're alittle off by saying that it is better or even equivalent to the L67.

no,no not at all im saying that people just look at driving a car, period. 90% of the people who buy the 3.6 will never mod that engine EVER, so an upgradeable drivetrain is something that is not considered when deciding what engine to stick in. People see that the 3.6 produces 240 hp and and a L67 produces 240 with having to put premium fuel. gas prices are higher these days. Im just looking at this from a consumer standpoint and a GM standpiont. the Caddy 3.6 VVT is making 255 hp and the other GM 3.6 VVT'* only make 240 hp

Gotcha. I thought you were speaking from a performance standpoint, not economical/consumer.

Personally i'd rather have the 3.6. It'* MUCH lighter, and it'll be a ton better with gas milage.

HP wins races. In a drag race >99% of all 3800'* will hit their torque peak once, while you hit the HP every time. You need a good balance, the 3.6 does that IMO. lighter aluminum engines don't hurt either. Just wait till the 3.9 version comes out.

I was speaking more of the potential of the L67 than the stock specs. True the aluminum block is lighter, but the potential of the L67 is far higher than the potential of the new VVT'*. They are already so optimized that it would take big $$$ to get them to put out more. Unlike how cheap and easy it is to get an L67 over 300 crack horsepower.

The laser guided cruise control is amazing on the new STS, and I would just love to have the new 4.6L 320 bhp V8 with AWD...truly an impressive machine worthy of competing with the benchmark Germans.
