Way to go bud , this will def be the first in a long string of awards, second you def have the best name out there. If you dont mind me asking (and you dont have to answer if you are not comfortable) but what exactly does your son have. The only reason I ask is that for several years I worked with developmentally challenged youth and they were some of the smartest people I ever met and it was one of the most rewarding feelings watching the students succeed. Yes I know this is me going off on a tangent but there was a group of people on tv I saw that had (oh damn I cant remember) but anyways these people were considered developmentally challenged and this one women could not ad 2 plus 2 yet she could sing (memorized) over 10,000 different songs in 30 different languages, and not common ones either we are talking like macedonian and other ancient scripts. Anyways I know this is rambling but it just goes to show you that a lot of the time the label (insert word here) challenged doesnt really apply

I don't mind talking about what difficulties Andrew has. He is a learning different child, which means he does not learn the same way a normal child does. He is the same as any other child, as a matter of fact his play is very advanced, but his thought processes are much different. He does not learn by speech or repetition. He learns by sight and through visual aids and touch. When he was 1 yr old he was diagnosised (sp) as being deaf, his ears filled with water for some reason and he could not longer hear. So the result of that, after fighting with the doctor, knowing there was something wrong with my child, and after countless prescriptions, he has a speech delay, and his brain just takes information in differently. He has had surgery to correct the problem (he just chooses not to hear us). Also, he is left handed, and there are different ways to teach a lefty, but his teacher last year was not willing to do this, so he lost a full year of education.
Also they feel he may have a mild form of ADHD, but I REFUSE to put my child on any kind of meds!!!! I know we can deal with it, as long as we are patient, understanding, loving, and if we listen to what he is telling us.

Sorry folks, I guess I rambled...oops.

By the way THANKS ALL!!!!!

It seems the Medical Profession has gotten to the point where it'* easier to prescribe drugs than it is to actually diagnose and try to fix what'* wrong with people.

Also, PontiacFamily, if you look at history, most of our Geniuses supposedly had some sort of learning disability when they were younger. it'* those that can look at the world differently that have the best chance of changing it. Just try to make sure he uses his powers for Good and not Evil, okay??
