The problem is that the Taurus was just that, "cheap". Not inexpensive, but cheap; cheaply made, from cheap metal, with cheap electronics and wiring(which is the reason that practiacally everything Ford makes has a tendency to burst into flames), cheap design work, and shoddy build quality.
Everything that Frod[sic] makes has the same problems; unreliable AOD transmissions, fire-hazard wiring, cheap interiors(visible mold lines, sharp edges), and horrible build-quality. The only(ONLY) thing that Ford has going for them is that they also sell the cars cheap. So buy cutting every corner until it bleeds, they offer their customer exactly what they pay for, a cheap car, and they make a f*cking mint.
You know, I always laugh when GM people make fun of Ford Interiors... Gm'* interior quality is BY FAR the worst of any car manufacturer. And another thing, If Ford was as bad as you say, nobody would buy them, and they wouldn't slaughter GM in sales (not total sales, i'm talking category to category, ex. Full Size Truck, Small Truck, Small SUV, Midsize Sedan etc.)... I don't care if you don't like Ford, I'm not really biased in the whole GM/Ford/Chrysler War, I just wish people would state fact. And Where most of Ford'* Transmission and Wiring problems were in the 80'*... NO AMERICAN MANUFACTURER BUILT A DECENT CAR IN THE 1980'*. I'm just so tired of people here bashing Ford/Chrysler and Ford/Chrysler people bashing GM, It gets really old.

Oh, And Rjolly... I've raced My Best Friend'* 98 SE Taurus (Duratec 24v) vs my Mom'* 98 Bonneville SE , and it SLAUGHTERS it. The L36 gets ahead for a second due to the duratec being a modular motor, but the Taurus wins 0-60 and 60+. As far as the 3.0 vulcan goes, they are awfully underpowered, It has a hard time keeping up with a 3100 Malibu. And Being a 3 Time SHO owner, I'd have to say that it'd be a pretty close race vs. a ssei... The 5-speed in the taurus might have an advantage, AXOD SHO'* shift pretty sloppy.

I find ford interiors very bland. They both have classically in the last 10 years used some nasty plastics etc, but forts are just lacking. It'* like they're missing a lot of buttons or something.

I'll agree to this one to an extent, I personally believe that early 90'* GM interiors were a bit better than Ford'*, but when it comes to the more modern models, Ford has got GM beat.

My .02 and I saw it on a show as well...made sense.

Yes off topic: Ford interiors are more sound than GM. This is why in the mid to late 80 and into the mid 90'* people would opt to buy the stang versus the camaro/bird.

Anyone who has gotten into one of those carmaro/birds knows they are going to hear squeaks and rattles in the interior. Fords don't have that issue.

As well...door hinges... need I even go there?

I'm no Ford lover, had one..it treated me right. Had plenty of GM'* that have done the same. Never known a Dodge to treat a friend right.

Nuff said

I don't knock dodge my parent'* have owned 4 dodge'* 80 lebaron retired in 91 had 239,000 miles yes it was the orinigal tranny and engine. Then they had 88 voyager with 4 cylinder they sold at 150,000 miles then had 92 dodge ram convergan van retired at 262,000 miles now they have a 97 grand carvan with 138,000 miles runs good and they also have 2005 with 20,000 miles on. All them execpt the dodge ram van had the orinigal motor and tranny. The dodge ram tranny went out basic after my dad drove with out tranny fuild then the tranny went 13,000 miles after that which is when the junked. My parent have never been one to give oil changes on time and do much maintaince. So I would be to quick to mock dodge.

Ok I will get off my soap box
