Default Blue tooth USB Dongle Adapter...question

what is it and what is a good one for my laptop??

Both my laptops don't have bluetooth devices installed, though they where an option I never thought I'd use.

I'm on eBay right now and see many for cheap and lots of versions..I think.

What do I need to know before I buy one?
What does V2.0 mean?
What should I stay away from?

The reason I wanted to buy one is because my wife wants to send ring tones to her phone and we found out that we can use the laptop with a bluetooth to do this.

Thinking of buying this one:

Would prefer to buy one from USA though

Thanks.

Todd

Todd;

There have been some reports of problem with whats called a stack error with some Blue Tooth adapters. I tried a Logitech Blue Tooth mouse on my laptop running XP-Pro and after awhile I found my fan running non-stop and my processing speed and performance was swirling down the drain. My friggin laptop got steaming hot! What I found was that the Toshiba Blue Tooth stack was using my processor all the time, even with the BT adapter out. I ditched it. Google the Blue Tooth Stack error and you'll find lots to read about it before you got out an invest in one.

What do you consider steaming hot. I'm up to 174F again,....... guess it'* time to take it apart and clean. Again.

I could not keep my hand on the back case....if it was water cooled, it would've blown a cap!

Todd;

My experience was less than favorable. If you can afford the dongle give it a go, what harm is there. If your PC heats up or you get the stack running out your resources, then you can always dump it and the program.

there pretty cheap...from 8.00 shipped to only 15.99 shipped

if it starts to pull resources than I'll just block it from starting up with windows

Thanks Kevin....John
