Yeah...call it the white curse, call it whatever you want.

Yesterday after leaving work, I was on my way home. I was cruising at a steady 40mph when I hear squealing tires and see some [Fire in the hole!] tearing out of a business and is about to T-bone me. My instinct was to cut the wheel to the right...well in doing so, I hit a 1 foot deep by 2 foot round pot hole

So I hurry and pull in the gas station because now my steering wheel is turned more than halfway to the left. Get out of the car, the guy that was behind me when this happened pulled in behind me to make sure I was ok. Real nice guy, he looks at the car, and told me to be careful limping it home.

damage:

The suspension on the pass-side is fu-barred. When the driverside tire is straight, the pass-side tire is turned out, and its pushed back more towards the door than the driver. While driving if I let go of the wheel, I can damn near do a donut, popping noises and severe shaking. Amazingly the tire was still inflated when I woke up this morning. But I can't tell if the rim is bent.

The car is at the mechanic shop and I should know whats wrong soon.....

Got the call from the mechanic shop. The lower control arm is bent to hell, and the alignment is screwed. It'* being repaired as we speak. And luckily, I don't have to pay for the control arm b/c I just replaced it 2 months ago and Carquest said they would warranty it. Thank god I used to work there LOL.

Good instincts, glad everything'* alright.

Mine saved me last month when I had to slam my brakes on 295 to avoid hitting the guy in front of me who wasn't paying attention and braked too late. He dove for the grass medium which gave me just enough room to brake. I decided to stay in my lane; heavy traffic on my right and out-of-control car on my left. The guy behind me wasn't so quick on the draw. He rear-ended me so badly he got towed, when I looked back his front was crushed like a soda can. My dad'* F250 which I was driving got lifted up for a bronco ride but wasn't as bad, drivable. Guess that'* Ford tough®. Mounting brackets and bumper twisted up like pretzels, all lights smashed and tail gate bent nicely. Got a check for the value of the truck and have been fixing it back to order since.
When I thought back I was so fortunate to follow my gut and stay braking in my lane, bracing for possible impact. If I tried to turn onto the medium as well he would have hit my at an angle and I would have been rolling over.

I find it funny and ironic that I got hit by a Dodge.

Hope it doesn't hit your wallet as hard as it hit your suspension.
