Actually in the scene in the old man'* garage when the new KITT first makes an appearance, you see a stripped TA and major chunks of original KITT equipment lying around. It'* fairly obvious that the original KITT was broken down. It'* also obvious by watching the show that the new KITT isn't the same entity as the original.
I'm upset because THEY KILLED KITT.

BTW, fanboyism might come into it if the show itself didn't stink on ice. Seriously, the acting stunk, the directing stunk, the writing stunk, and the production value stunk...
KITT being a Mustang was the only thing about the show that I could actually forgive.

it should be noted that most "series premieres" stink.

esp when they have the hype of being a resurrected franchise. its impossible to live up to that.

give em a break, let them get used to their roles. be patient, or the last KITT you will ever see will be that one.

Hey I understand, I love a lot of GM stuff and all that...

Pilots have to be somewhat dumbed down, give it a few episodes to get going, let characters develop.

Trivia question:
In this scene the “originall KITT” was shown with Tuned Port Injection.
What is wrong with this?

Yep – I wonder if they just didn’t know or if they showed TPI because it has a cleaner look.

Maybe it wasn't the original K.I.T.T. Maybe they tried building a second one but circumstances prevented it. Maybe that was really K.I.T.T. mark II in the making. All hypotheticals of course.

KITT should have been a pontiac banshee because in the last made for TV knight rider movie he was transplanted into one by Michael because he did not like personality of the replacement KITT. Oh and for those who do not like the morphing KITT there was super pursuit mode in the original in which KITT sprouted wings and spoilers from no where and he also had convertible mode in which the hatch and roof disappeared.
