I had my back surgery at age 23. ruptured discs pinching my sciatic nerve ( the big one that runs down your leg. Still hurts daily 11 years later and they dont want to risk paralysis by operating again.

I sleep on the floor on a blanket (firmness helps)

Lotsa ibuprofin ( 600mg at a time not daily but several times a week)

Walk if you can but dont overdo

warm showers on the lower back

Sleep with a pillow between your knees

I hope some of the replies help, I would not wish the pain on anyone.

Oh Trust me the replies have helped. I went to Brooks Pharmacy and got a heating pad, a botle of Aleve, and some vapo rub. My back pain is doing much better, I still am taking it easy since the meds are whats making me feel better. The problem im sure is still there.

im going to take my muscle relaxer before I go to ZzZzZzZz

What you want to be careful of is lifting from the waist. If the pain ever starts shooting down your leg, left one usually, that can be bad. Some nights I cannot even sit here at the PC for long, after drving the car all day. Feels like a knife stabbing in your buttock and going down the leg, my ankle burns sometimes too, on REALLY bad days it feels like my heel is getting stabbed. Its all due to the nerve.

Had a co worker once that swore stress caused his back pain, cause of the muscle tension.

Isnt the leg pain more of the sciatic nerve ? Ive had that pain before and its very Irritating!! Oh and stress, I got TONS of it but I dont think that would cause my back pain, more like a Heart Attack or something but no chest pains thank god!!!

I will definately go to the Docs if the pain persists, but I actually had an awesome night sleep and the pain has subsided for now. I still feel a little discomfort, but not like a day ago.

Im still taking it easy and trying not to aggravate the back at all, but its definately looking good!! We'll see what the weekend brings.
