my dad was in the navy and then air guard
and my brother is in the army and just got back from iraq
i might go army rotc when i go into college

does being in jr. rotc for 4weeks before I moved out of the school that offered it count for anything I though about going into air force but decided against it

Brutal. But you look back on it with fond memories. The Marines are unique. They're the only branch, where after 4 years active duty, if you want to join another branch, you don't have to go through their basic training. They figure if you made it through that hell, you're good to go.

Don't count on having a life. You'll be going anywhere, at any time, with zero advance warning. The Marines are a TINY force when compared to the other major branches. They're for one purpose: Go NOW. Anywhere in the world in 24 hours to open a big 'ol can of whoopass.

8 year US Navy Veteran as a Hull Maintenance Technician (HT2). Currently Individual Ready Reserve (IRR or inactive reserves) as a Gunners Mate (GM2). Planning on returning to the Ready Reserve as a SEABEE Equipment Operator (EO3 or EO2)before years end. I've lost 28 lbs and I've got to lose about 75 more.
