Default Any experience with Code 42 ?

This is on our 90 Ciera w/3300.

Book states code 42 is
electronic spark timing circut - open or shorted to ground
OR
direct ignition system fault - open or shorted
OR
fuel cutoff relay circuit

I mean theres alot of items in the spark timing circuit right ?

then I dont believe we have direct ignition or fuel cutoff relay do we ?

42 - Electronic Spark Timing bypass circuit or EST circuit is grounded or open. A malfunctioning HEI module can cause this code.

The lounge ? No link ? What ? It wont get many hits here. Its not a Bonny ? Im a long term H body 90* owner, member and contributor to this forum. I posted this question in the appropriate era of 90* Buick V6 powered cars where the guys that know about these things visit..........and to get results........who comes to the lounge? I never do, the lounge is for chit chat not tec knowledge, not much knowledge at A body, I go there about as much as this lounge. Id like a ruleing on this from Will and JR

Thanks alot

I feel I must appoligize for having the nerve to come here with a nearly identical drivetrain and posting a question many 87-91 owners would have the answer to. I never realized until now the inferiority a drivetrain has if not placed in a Bonneville.

I bough defeated

Steve, your most recent post in this topic is entirely out of line and uncalled for considering the very clear replies I gave you via PM to your questions.

John Wikoff moved your topic per POLICY on this Forum. We have to draw the line somewhere before Ford Contours try to take over the 2000-2005 section, and Honda Civics in the 87-91.

There has to be a LINE. Not a gray area.
