Default Another alcohol related tragedy

Friday night there was a party which involved alcohol which two of my friends attended, Around 11pm they stopped drinking and they left for home at 5am, On their way back to the cities jasmine the driver "fell asleep" and when she awoked she was in the ditch and she flipped it three times attemping to get back on the road. When police and paradmedics arived mike was brain dead where as jasmine was banged up a bit nothing serious, saturday night at 11:30 they took mike off life support and within 15 minutes after that he died. Here is a link to the news report http://kare11.com/news/news-article.asp?NEWS_ID=66520

Right now I honestly dont know how to feel, I am a bit torn, angery, mad and sad. Jasmine wasnt a really good friend of mine but I was good friends with mike, and for the love of god she blew a .06 7 hours after she stopped drinking !!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It is very tragic! I feel for the parents of all those involved also. Jasmine will have to live with her actions- so she won't be unharmed in this. One stupid act changed the lives of so many.

She has already been charged with manslaughter, I beleive they are also charging her with a DWI and reckless driving. Also I cant completely blame jasmine because they were both drinking, and he had a choice wether or not to go in the car with her. But as a licensed driver she does take the responsibility for her actions. You hear about thse tragedies all the time, and they dont turn a tear until it happens to someone you care about.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I hate to see this kind of stuff happen.

Are they charging any adults with a crime, such as providing alcohol to minors? According to the article, both the driver and your friend were underage. I know all new keg rentals in MN have some sort of system whereif they can find the keg they can back track the barcode on it to find out who the purchasing adult was.

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twinci...al/9133179.htm - Thats a better news article. I doubt there was a a keg, II bet it was moslty just a few cases of beer and 3-4 bottle of hard liquor. Me and a few friends are quite suspcious of some things, like I dont beleive they were in hastings, and why they would be traveling on hwy 52 out of both their directions 5 am is kind of puzzling.

This is tough, a girl who was in a couple of my classes died this last february, and they've charged a kid who made a beer bong for the party with manslaughter. He was just pulled over for DUI this month as well... Watching the news on kare 11 tonight, and they brought the story backup because of the charges, filled the screen with her Sr. pic. That sure made me think. Hopefully your friends will learn something from this, but it'* way too far.
