Default 98 Cavalier suspension

We had bought my daughter a used 98 Cavalier. She'* been in it for a little over one year. Since she was complaining about a noise, ABS lights, and I know the PS pump is shot, I took it to the shop today to have the ABS codes read before I did anything else. First time that I have had this car up on the rack. The very first thing that we noticed ........ no swaybar! Now I am a little confused, I thought (and the guy looking at it with me) that there should be one. The mounting holes werein the control arm for the links, but nothing was there, no links, no swaybar, no bushings, nothing. I don't have a FSM for this car, but the Haynes manual clearly shows the swaybar, but I also know that they aren;t always 100% especially when covering a span of years. Is everything cool here, or am I looking at a parts search? BTW, I have never noticed any ill effects without the bar, if it is supposed to have it. Oh yeah, and it does need a PS pump, master cylinder, RF speed sensor, and right axle.[/b]

If the bar really is supposed to be there, you might want to get it in ASAP, you might end up with some nasty oversteer in an emergency situation without it.

Yeah, I know. Funny thing is, it steers fine, even under hard driving. First thing I need to figure out is if it IS supposed to be there.

Mod: I goofed and put this in general instead of Lounge, please fix.

Was the big bushing in the large p-clip there that would be down on the body of the sway bar? I'm under the assumption there should be a sway bar.

We looked, but did not scrutinize. We were somewhat dazed by the factthat it wasn;t there. I'll have to investigate further when I replace the other parts. Hopefully someone either has another 98 to compare or access to a 98 FSM to verify.

98 is the curvy ones without the new huge-sticking-out front end right? I'll check tham out, I see at least ten a week.
