its got a brand new battery in it and the starter was replaced a couple days before i bought the car. i had a friend check to see if it was getting fuel and spark and he said it was but i dunno what he did cause i was at the back patching a hole with some good ol bondo

Just because your getting fuel and spark dosen't mean either of them is good. Get a fuel pressure guage, check those plugs! You may also want to disconnect the fuel pump and try to run it with spray start. (bad gas)
