Every week at work, several people get togather and buy some lotto tickets. If they win, the winnings get split up.

I walk into work the other day and there is a bunch of people talking about money, I didn't think nothing of it. About 5 minutes later I heard what was going on. That group had won $1,000,000 The winnings are being split up and each of the 7 people are going to recieve approximatly $66,000.

Man this makes me wish I had joined in on these things

Is that AFTER taxes, and are they getting it in a lump sum?

we do that at work usually when the jackpot gets way up ther.

yea, they are taking the lump sum, and it will be very close to $66,000 AFTER taxes and the penalty for taking the luimp sum.

Unless your Lottery is different then ours; I doubt it. That 462k ($66k*7) number sounds like the lump sum before taxes. Loose another 10k each in taxes and 55k each is still a nice check to get.

Unless of course it was closer to 1.5 million that they won.

I bought a ticket last Tuesday in Chicago and haven't checked the numbers yet. I doubt I've won anything but it sure would be nice to win a little bit. I could get my a/c unit replaced.

ANYTIME they have those going at work, i throw my money in... if they every won, and i didnt get in, i would be the only one to show up at work the next day
