3.8 Comparisons
After seeing Haro'* recent thread of his engine teardown, I got a good look at all of the internals of the S2 L67.

It got me thinking, and I'd be interested to see a side by side comparison of what a Ford 3.8 and a Chrysler 3.8 looks like on the inside. They are all pushrod engines. Most people say that the GM 3.8 is a tank compared to the other 3.8'*, and I'd like to see for myself.
Does anybody know where to find pictures of this stuff?

I wish I had some pics.... The ford 3.8 wasn't the greatest... But it had some decent internals... They always seemed to like killing off bearings tho... The Alluminum heads were problematic on them as well..
The Dodge engines I am not sure of... I would like to see that myself

I'm not sure about build quality other than the 3800 looks a lot more expensive than the Ford 3.8 externally. The only thing I like on the ford 3.8 is how smooth it is. at idle you can't even tell it'* running. it'* glass smooth. The 3800 has a bit of vibration while idling. (but not bad.) Other than that, the ford 3.8 is GUTLESS.

But I would love to se the bottom end of the Dodge 3.8( they got better in the later years and made more power ) as well as the 3.9 truck engine...

On the other hand, Ford does an excellent job on thier V8s. They do idle glass smooth and have good guts( 32 vlave Intec, */C'd 5.4, new Stang GT).

Taurus car club would be the place to possibly find photos and more info on those.
Just do a search for that, i don't know if the mods would allow a link to it or not.
They are a car club real similar to this one, except their focus is the Taurus.

I'll agree to the FMC 3.8 being gutless, of course ford trannies are KNOWN for sucking power from the factory. My girlfriends got a 2004 Mustang with the 3.8 and it'* got nothing behind it, even rated at 200hp. My ol' '87 did a better job. Now the Chrysler 3.8, i can vouch for that motor. My mom'* '97 T&C has the 3.8 with the 42TE trans and it moves pretty solid for a big old boat. And that'* only got 160hp. They're torque monsters on the bottom end like the GM'* though.

Chrysler should have used that 3.8( 200 hp version ) in the Intrepid with a better tranny... They may have actually had a decent car...
