2000-2002 Impala Transmission Problems?

2000-2002 Impala Transmission Problems?
I was thinking of getting a 2000 or 2001 Impala LS, but I hear they have a lot of problems with the transmissions failing. Can anyone confirm this? I read on www.carsurvey.org, and other sites.

Its a 4T65-E Transmission... I believe there are Force motor issues for shift quality control, and 4th Input shaft splines wear out and if there is enough metal present it can take out other parts of the trans... some will start to shift really hard or Miss/Loose 4th gear...
This was also a problem on the Bonneviles as well as any vehicle with a 4T65-E...
a side note, The 4T60-E'* also wore the 4th input shaft splines, as well as thrust washers and coffee cans( Reverse reaction drum )
If the Impalla shifts smooth and on time with no shudders, the fluid is good a red/pink, can have a slight tan hue as that would be normal with mileage...
If there is a hint that the trans is acting off color I'd walk away from that car... This goes for any GM THM440-T4(4T60), 4T60-E or 4T65-E

WOW! This topic just screams my name, doesn't it? 75k miles and it slips in 3rd, and is very slow to shift into the other gears. They're great cars and I would always recommend them, but mechanically, their trannies are horrible. BUT! I'm making lemonade out of lemons, because I'll soon by the proud owner of an L67/4t65-hd combo
