The 1978 Corvette L82 was rated at 220 hp @ 5200 rpm and 260 ft-lbs @ 3600 rpm with the 350 engine 4 speed stick and 3.7 rear end gear ratio.

It would do the 1/4 in 15.1 sec @ 93 mph
0-60 in 7.4 sec

I'm almost positive you'll easily lose to a Corvette of any year..
Don't be too sure of that. Remeber when I posted pics of my first track run and a 74' Vette ran a 15.1@91 to my 15.1@92? But yes in general a stock SSEi will likekly be beat by a Vette, but ya never know.

Also, HANS if you want a sure win just go to a dealorship and look for a white 96-99 SSEi for test drive with the Ser 2 L67. If you're component doesn't notice its a different car then race him. Almost guarenteed win.

Is this race going to go down or what??!!! I'd like to know how well you fare. Would this be a quarter mile race or 1/8 mile, that may play a factor too, I think you'd stand a better chance in the 1/8. But just do it and let us know the outcome!!!!! DO IT!!!!!!! And best of luck!

Joe.

Its dinner if I win, I buy dinner if I loose lol. but I might be able to talk him into giving me a 1 second head start.
I've been under the impression that the 93 vettes come with the 300hp LT1 350'*. Good Luck.

You would be correct, '93'* came with the LT1 (I beleive '92 was actually the first year the LT1 in the corvette, '93 for the F-bodies), not sure of what they rated them at. I know the '93 F-body LT1'* were rated at 275hp, so 300hp for the Vette sounds about right. If it was a late 80'* vette with the L98 350, it would be a totally different story, most of the L98'* were pretty pathetic. But anyhow, just race him and see what happens!!

You'll lose. A Lt1 C4 should easially run in the low 14'*, high 13'* with no problem.

I think the title is confusing, but the Vette in question is an 87, judging by the link you provided, right?
