1985 Trans Am
ok i was flippin through the classifieds and see this 86 trans am for sale. I call the guy he tells me he has 150k miles on the body, and 60k on the rebuilt 305 (carburated 5.7 liter V8. its got a 4 speed automatic, new tires, new wheels, and new brakes.
Any opinions.

Oh, I forgot to mention its going for $1500. Any idea on the hp or weight of the 86 trans am?

Like flat top pistons, P&P, or anything of the sort... A halfway decently built 350 can make 300 HP easy... But as far as stock I'm not all that sure...

the 85'* only had 2.8V6s and 5.0V8s. id say he meant it has a rebuilt 305. the 350 was only on the Z-28, i believe, and i dont think they did that till 91

Maybe I heard him wrong. The 5.0 305 is still a solid engine right?
I'll post pictures of my naked body unless I get the curb weight for this car! ( jokin)
I just realized I put 85 trans am as the topic when it should be 86.

Hey go drive it, that'* all that matters, a 305 doesn't have much power stock, but it could be tuned up a lot, so just drive it, ya never know. Their curb weight is a lil above 3000 lbs just like a bonnie.

Fun Fun Fun.... And I agree I think the 85-85 Trans Ams had a 5.0 or 305 as opposed to the 5.7... I saw an 87 with a 5.7 but before that I don't remember one... And yes, a chevy V8 is gennerally going to be a solid engime
