I've got a VIN for a 1977 Ford F-250 4x4. It was my Dad'* which he sold in 1991. Is there anyway to track this down based on the VIN? I've found several sites that will decode it but we want to find it to possibly buy it back and restore.

if you know someone at your local dmv they may be able to "unofficially" help you track it. i say unofficially because officially it is illegal. however my cousin and i got a buddy to help us track a 66 plymouth my aunt had owned that she traded in in 1978. unfortunately it was sold to the wreckers in 1991 but we were able to go thru all the owners until that time.
