Well, it'* official. As of now my family has broke the 100 hour mark for Habitat.
When we hit the 180 mark they begin to find a location for our house. Out goal is to get the next 80 done as quickly as possible so that can begin. We are hoping that they will be ablte to break ground as soon as weather permits early next year, and be in our house by the end of 08, as it takes about 9 months to complete a house.

If you want the long version, see here.
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...building+house
Here'* the Reader'* Digest version
We are getting a house through Habitat for Humanity.
We will get a brand new, 3 bedroom house for about $60,000, which is the cost of building. We will get an interest free loan, making our monthly payments, with insurance and taxes, probably around $350.00 or so a month.
In order to get a house, my wife and I must get a total of 300 hours of working on houses with Habitat. The first 180 are on other people'* houses, then the rest can be done on your own house. We joust found out at the beginning of July that we were accepted into the program, and we already have 100 + hours.
Best, part is, the wife and I only have to do 150 of the 300 hours, the rest can comes form friends and family.....hence the link in my siggy area.

Thanks!! and thanks for wanting to help if you could.
Honestly, I think we'll be able to do the hours ourselves if we need to, it would just be easier to have help. I haven't slept in in months.
Oh well, for about a $30,000 savings on a brand new home, 300 hours in nothing.
Really, I thing the best part of getting some help would be just to work with friends

What an excellent program.
Give and you shall receive back 10 fold.
Rent in these parts for a two bedroom is $900 a month. The average mortgage on a home, $1,500. after a 10% deposit. I had to save for 6 years to be able to afford to buy mine.
Only difference is it was usually the other apartment neighbours that complained about my stereo.
