00 Impala engine?

Mechanic said a rod bent. My friend is back in NJ and I am in TN. So I am tryin to help best I can from 800 miles away. Where can I look for an engine? What is the 3400 from? Alero?

Whats the difference in the 3.1 and 3.4 besides the obvious a lil bit bigger?

The engine in a Malibu (Opel) will say it'* displacement on the UIM. Have her go read it off to you.
To find an engine I suggest car-part.com or letting your fingers do the walking.

Thought all Malibu'* had the 3.1?
If a 3.4 would fit maybe we should just put that motor in instead of the 3.1. Unless the 3.1 for some reason is a better motor.

Yes, This would be the Vin J 3100... There are enough of them around, should be able to find a low mileage motor at the wrecker
