Default Potential future Bonnie owner here

Hi all, new guy here. Within the next couple years I'll be looking for a new daily driver, as the 'ol Jeep will most likely be retired to occasional street outings only (lockers aren't so nice to tires on pavement )
I came to be legitamately interested in a Bonneville as I was driving my buddys '98 SHO around. I thought to myself,
"Self, this is a nice concept. A comfortable, full-sized car with good looks and nice power. you should look into this instead of a little hotshot tuner or old musclecar for your next ride...)

SO, I figured since I'm not a Ford guy (and parts for the SHOs are ridiculous), I should take a look at some other canidates. Enter the Bonneville.
I have liked, no, LOVED the looks of the GXP since it came out. Not a huge fan of the WWD (wrong-wheel drive), but I can get over that.
I have also wanted to own/modify a 3800SC powered car for a while as well...
So I have a delima, the body styling of the GXP is a must, but I would prefer the 3800SC drivetrain... did it ever exist??? Could I convert to a GXP body??? And I'm not entirely against the Northstar route either. Lets see what peoples takes are on this.
Have at it!

I am not sure if an L67 (supercharged 3800) has been swapped into a GXP before. I imagine the engine mounts would for sure be different along with some other essential things that would have to be custom made. You could find an ssei and possibly a gxp parts car in a junk yard and try to match the appearance as much as possible.

The engine in the gxp, the northstar, is used in luxury cadillacs and has a very small aftermarket base for it. As for the 3800, there are many aftermarket stores and the engine is bullet-proof. It was also designed by a performance team of engineers at GM.

As far as quickness.. the supercharged 3800 is quicker, and once the mod bug bites you, the 3800 can run the 1/4 mile in the low 13s if you have the budget, knowledge to tune, and patience.

I'm no expert on engine swaps, but I woudl guess the best bet to do this is to swap the whole sub frame. That way all the mounts are right for the engine.

If you have the CA$H, you can run 3800'* in the mid 8'* (Grand Prix)

My brother-in-law is running a SC 3800 in his 91 Cutlass.

Welcome to the club

lots of love to the N* motors in the GXPs but im a bigger fan of the unmistakable whistle

if I were you id look more into a GTP Pontiac Grand Prix... its about as close as you get to the GXP Style with the Series II 3800 SC motor... its more a sports car vs a luxury car with the 2 door models but hey... theyre quick

I sold my 1997 GTP (4 Door) for the Bonne GXP. The GTP was much faster than
the GXP, but the GXP is much more sophisticated. The GTP is more of
a "kids" car.

Sheesh, I'm 29, and already saying "kids" car. I think I'm getting old...
